Fundamentals of payroll beginner
Hi – A little bit about myself. I have my bachelors and masters degree in computer science and I was a software developer until now. I am changing my career to become a payroll specialist. I am a beginner in learning the fundamentals of payroll.
I am first trying to complete a course work in fundamentals of payroll course work. I am not sure which academy course work that I need to go for and complete. So I can land a payroll specialist job soon. Please guide me on this.
Will APA Fundamental payroll course do work? Or anything else please? Thanks for the help in advance.

@priya123 I'll announce this to hopefully help get some answers pouring in for you! :) - Corie at Symmetry
@priya123 I suggest starting with the FPC course through the APA. @David Warren is completely correct - the Payroll Source is a great resource to learn the in's and out's of payroll, as is IRS Publication 15.
It's my opinion that passing the CPP Exam will greatly help you in your career search.
Good luck!
There are requirements of having worked in the payroll profession for a certain number of years before you can take the CPP exam, so the poster would need to start with the FPC.
@Aima is correct! The criteria by the APA for taking the CPP can be found at the link below.
