FICA withholding for "retired" employees

edited July 2011 in Stupid Questions
An on-call temporary employee asked me why we are withholding FICA tax on his paychecks since he is retired and collecting Social Security. He said he "heard" from someone that we must stop and pay him back all money withheld to date. :?: I tried to explain that I have no idea what his retirement plans are and since he is working for us occasionally, he is considered an employee and we must withhold. Am I just tired and missing something?
